No Win = No Fee

We were genuinely surprised to learn our business had been overpaying on energy. Progress Claims carried out a detailed review and uncovered hidden commissions we knew nothing about. They dealt with everything from start to finish and, in the end, secured us a £27,000 refund. I’d definitely recommend them to other businesses — it’s well worth having your contracts checked.

Are you aware of how much you're paying for energy?

What you – and millions of other businesses – may not realise is that many brokers add hidden commissions to your energy contracts without disclosing it.
Expertise in Commercial Mis-Selling.
Energy brokers, or third-party intermediaries (TPIs), are meant to act in your best interest when sourcing contracts. However, many prioritise their own financial gain. Despite being legally required to be transparent, many brokers make misleading claims or hide their compensation.

If you believe you’ve overpaid for your energy bills, we’re here to make the mis-sold energy claims process as simple and straightforward as possible.

What does mis-selling in business energy look like?

Many business owners believe they’re getting the best possible rate and don’t realise they may have been mis-sold a business energy contract. This is often because dishonest brokers hide the mis-selling within the monthly energy bill, rather than charging a one-off, easily noticeable commission fee.

For example, a broker might advise a company that 16p per kWh is a great rate, but the supplier is only charging 13p per kWh, with 3p going to the broker each month. On a one-year contract with 320,000 units, the broker would earn £9,600 in commission.

FAQs

My broker saved me money – does that mean I don’t have a claim?

Not necessarily. While a broker may have saved you money compared to a previous deal, there could still be hidden commissions within your business energy contract, which could entitle you to a mis-sold energy claim.

How do I get my energy rebate?

We make the process simple and hassle-free. Contact us for a free assessment, and if you’re eligible, our business energy claims experts will handle everything – from gathering documents to liaising with brokers and suppliers on your behalf. You may need to provide details such as:

⦁ The name of your broker
⦁ Copies of your invoices
⦁ Your energy contract

Don’t worry if you’re missing paperwork – we can help you retrieve it. Once we have everything, we’ll take care of the rest, ensuring you receive your rebate smoothly.

How long does it take for a claim to be processed?

As mentioned above, every claim handled by the team is considered on a case-by-case basis.
This is down to multiple factors, such as:

  • – Business Type and Usage
    – Energy Broker
    – Contract Length
    – Provided Documents and Evidence
    – And more…

As a result, claims can take anywhere between a few weeks, several months or even up to a year to process.
However, we always keep our clients informed as their cases develop and progress, working hard to produce a speedy payout to get businesses back on track.

How much commission do energy brokers make?

Energy brokers often add a commission to your rates, which can significantly increase your overall costs. This commission is usually hidden within the contract, and brokers aren’t always transparent about it. Some may even claim their services are free or paid for by the supplier, when in fact, the supplier covers the fee through inflated rates.

Brokers can also pressure businesses into longer-term contracts to earn more commission. To avoid this, always ensure brokers disclose their fees and review your contract carefully.

If you're unsure whether you’ve overpaid for energy, our quick assessment can determine if you've been mis-sold – with no upfront cost.

Why hasn’t the regulator stepped in if this is happening?

Energy brokers are currently unregulated, and OFGEM doesn’t have the authority to address issues with them. This leaves businesses with limited options for recourse, which is why we’re helping affected companies make business energy claims and seek compensation.

My financial director reviewed everything – could we still have been mis-sold to?

Yes, it’s still possible. Mis-sold business energy contracts can be difficult to detect, even for experienced finance teams. Brokers may use misleading tactics, such as hidden commissions and misrepresentations, making it hard to identify mis-selling despite thorough scrutiny.

What happens when I have submitted the claim?

Our experts will begin investigations and request that the supplier or broker discloses your agreement. We will review the contract to determine whether a Discretionary Commission Arrangement was included, and if so, what the details were. Data shows that some brokers added discretionary commissions to your kW/ph rates, affecting the overall cost of your energy contract.

This investigation will not impact your business in any way, as we are simply checking whether any undisclosed commission arrangements were in place without your knowledge.
